หนัง Time Splits in the River เรื่องราวของสี่ศิลปินที่ชวนพ่อแม่ตัวเองมารับบทผู้ประท้วงต่อต้านรัฐบาลไต้หวันในช่วงทศวรรษ 1980 โดยทุกคนต้องตระเตรียมตัวสำหรับบทบาทด้วยการดูฟุตเตจเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นในตอนนั้น และแม้จะไม่มีคนใดเลยในกลุ่มพวกเขาเคยเข้าไปข้องเกี่ยวกับการประท้วงมาก่อน ทว่าการได้เห็นและได้สนทนาถึงมันอย่างจริงจังเป็นครั้งแรก ก็ทำให้พวกเขาค่อยๆ ซึมซับมันหลอมรวมเข้ากับอดีตของตนเองอย่างช้าๆ

Four artists decide to invite their parents to play the parts of dissidents in 1980s Taiwan. To get prepared for the performance, the artists show the actors footage from that time, initiating the discussion of arts and politics. Although none of them were involved in the event, they are still caught up in the story as well as their own past…
