หนัง Love_BKKIFF25 LOVE เป็นภาพยนตร์โรแมนติกที่สำรวจประเด็นเรื่องเพศภาวะ ความสัมพันธ์ และความรัก โดยมีศูนย์กลางอยู่ที่เรื่องราวของพยาบาลหนุ่มที่เป็นเกย์และแพทย์หญิงที่เป็นสเตรท (หญิงรักชาย) ในหลายๆ แง่มุม ภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้มีลักษณะเป็นยูโทเปีย (โลกในอุดมคติ) มันคือเรื่องราวของการมุ่งแสวงหาความใกล้ชิดทางเพศและอารมณ์กับผู้อื่น โดยไม่จำเป็นต้องยึดติดกับบรรทัดฐานหรือขนบทางสังคมที่คอยกำกับควบคุมความสัมพันธ์

เพศภาวะของผู้หญิง ซึ่งมักจะตกอยู่ภายใต้การตรวจสอบและตั้งคำถามอยู่เสมอจากทั้งผู้ชายและผู้หญิงในสังคม ถือเป็นประเด็นสำคัญของภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้ เรายังไปไม่ถึงจุดที่ผู้หญิงสามารถตัดสินใจเลือกเส้นทางเรื่องเพศและชีวิตรักของตนเองได้ โดยไม่ต้องคอยปกป้องหรืออธิบายให้ใครฟัง ภาพยนตร์ยังชี้ให้เห็นว่า ประสบการณ์และแนวปฏิบัติบางอย่างในชุมชนผู้มีความหลากหลายทางเพศ (homosexual community) อาจมอบแง่คิดอันมีค่าให้กับสังคมในวงกว้างได้ แต่แก่นแท้ของภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้คือการตั้งคำถามว่า “เราจะทำสิ่งที่ดีได้อย่างไร”

ผมเชื่อว่าเรื่องแต่ง (fiction) มีบทบาทสำคัญอย่างยิ่งในการสร้างภาพของโลกและมุมมองที่เป็นทางเลือกใหม่ๆ มันเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้คนได้แสดงออกและกระทำในสิ่งที่ไม่ปกติธรรมดา สำหรับผม หน้าที่สำคัญอย่างหนึ่งของเรื่องแต่งคือการจุดประกายวิธีคิดใหม่ๆ ให้เกิดขึ้นในชีวิตจริง สำหรับภาพยนตร์เรื่อง LOVE และผลงานทั้งไตรภาคนี้ เป้าหมายหลักของผมคือการสื่อสารออกไปว่า “วิธีคิดและวิถีปฏิบัติแบบใหม่นั้นเป็นสิ่งที่เป็นไปได้”

Love_BKKIFF25 LOVE is a romantic film exploring sexuality, relationships, and love, centered on a gay male nurse and a straight female doctor. In many ways, this film is utopian: it’s about striving for sexual and emotional closeness with others without necessarily conforming to the societal norms and conventions that govern relationships. Female sexuality, which seems to be under constant scrutiny and questioning from both men and women in many parts of society, is a central focus of the film. We have yet to reach a point where women can make choices regarding their sexuality and love life without having to defend or explain themselves. The film also suggests that certain experiences and practices within the homosexual community might offer valuable insights for broader society. But at its core, the film’s main topic is how to do good. I believe fiction plays a crucial role in envisioning alternative worlds and perspectives. It allows people to express themselves and act in ways that are often unusual. To me, an important function of fiction is to inspire new ways of thinking in real life. With LOVE – and the entire trilogy – my primary goal has been to convey that new ways of thinking and behaving are possible.
